OK. I have been using FireFox 3.6 RC1 off-and-on for a few hours now. No hangs or crashes yet. For that I am thankful.
Just noticed, and then verified, a fairly significant change from prior versions. When it opens a NEW TAB, as a result of me clicking a hotlink, the new tab is adjacent to the tab I was previously at … as opposed to the new tab being added at the very end [i.e., rightmost end] of the FireFox Windows. Let me explain. For example, I have Google set up to display ‘results’ in a new tab. So if I click on a news story on my tab displaying Google news, the story pops up in a new tab created right next door to the tab containing Google news. Previously, even since FireFox had tabs, the new tab would be created at the end of the other displayed tab. Not a big deal. I could even get to like this. It is, however, a change.
Another small ‘glitch.’ When I opened my TypePad tab … FireFox 3.6 hesitated … WENT AWAY [i.e., the FireFox Window vanished] … then came back … and all was fine. Bit weird. A bit scary. But, in the end, as they said in the Tintin comics, ‘All’s well that ends well.’
Thanks & Cheers. Good luck. Keep your appendages crossed.
An email ‘friend’ of mine, a PC ‘expert,’ was yet again, a few minutes ago singing the praises of Google Chrome. I used Chrome for about 2 minutes when it first came out … whenever (last year?). I don’t know. I could be wrong. Not sure if Chrome is industrial strength. Could be like gmail. Gmail is ‘good’, but doesn’t have all the features one would like from a modern email system.
